Robert officially started his pursuits as a licensed real estate agent in 1988, but you could say that his enthusiasm came long before that. His Grandfather became a real estate broker after finishing his service in the United States Navy during World War III. Robert grew up watching his Grandfather put everything into helping people achieve their goals in real estate with honesty, integrity and way more wit than most folks should be allowed to have! Over the years, Robert assumed that all real estate agents must be like his Grandfather. Sadly, after those first couple of years, it became clear to Robert that this was not the case.

Robert worked for some of the biggest real estate brokerage names in Silicon Valley and helped represent some big clients like members of the San Francisco 49ers, some hi tech giants and more than a few international real estate investors. While the landscape of real estate changed and evolved in the 1990s, Robert stayed on the cutting edge of technology to not only increase efficiency, but to reduce so much of the waste that was present. While the entire real estate industry was generating tons of thermal paper from printers, Robert was already writing contracts on his computer using a system he created himself. Since the internet barely existed, he could not embrace digital signatures yet, but being able to fill out contracts on the computer and print them out on site (way back in 1992!) still stunned most onlookers!

Robert knows the local silicon valley markets better than anyone. He was born and raised here, attending Lynbrook High School in West San Jose and ultimately graduating from San Jose State University. Over the years, Robert has realized that most of what people are taught about the real estate industry and what to think of as important are not correct. He focuses on what matters most to clients – getting the best price, in the shortest period of time, with the best contract terms. Robert has built his reputation on beating the market on those three terms. No other agent (at least none we have met) measures their success in this way. In fact, if Robert fails to deliver on those, he PAYS YOU at close of escrow!

Finally, with over a decade of experience under his belt and a solid opinion on the right (and wrong) way to do business, Robert got his Brokers license and started Whitelaw & Sons Real Estate in 2004. At this point, Robert has helped hundreds of buyers, sellers and investors reach their goals and he can do the same for you!
